The "Islam in Europe" Committee was founded in 1987 by the Conference of European Churches (CEC) and the Council of European Bishops' Conferences (CCEE) to help the European churches to reflect on, and give them some pastoral indications about the growing presence of Muslims in Europe. It is made up of members, consultants and observers. The Committee has a four-year mandate and meets twice a year. The current Committee's mandate began in 1999. The following are some of the recent documents prepared by the committee.

Christians and Muslims: European citizens and people of faith - From suspicion to trust
The European Christian-Muslim Conference (20-23 October 2008) was attended by 45 Christian and Muslim representatives from 16 European nations. The organisers of the meeting were the Committee for Relations with Muslims in Europe of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE) and the Conference of European Churches (CEC). It occurred as an event within the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue and the 60th anniversary of the UN Universal Declaration on Human Rights. It met from October 20th to 23rd 2008 and was supported financially by the European Union
